Sorry for not blogging for almost a year. I went to Hwa Chong Institution for a debate workshop last Wednesday. I thought that there were four of us going but it turns out that there were only Sabrina and me. Mdm Suriatie, our form teacher, took us there by taxi. (almost the same as the Language Arts Festival and the Maths Carnival.)

It took us 15-30 minutes to reach there. The instruction sheet said that the pupils selected must be able to speak fluent English however..... when I got there, the pupils were speaking SINGLISH!!!!! Ha ha, I too speak singlish. All those lah, hor etc. were so obvious. It was not long before we were allocate to our classrooms for the debate workshop. The instructor was skinny but funny. He taught us the technique of speaking with power.

We had a break after that. The break was very LONG - one and a half hours! We have buffet which consisted of many yummy food such as eclairs and sandwiches.

After the break, we had the opportunity to view other school's debate. Since our first and second choices were unavailable, we had no choice but to chose our third choice, which is, ROSYTH V.S. CHIJ KATONG. In my opinion, CHIJ pupils could present rather well but Rosyth pupils was stammering throughout the whole debate. It was said that the next year, we will join this competition. I am soo excited and looking forward to......

Today was an unlucky day. Let me tell you why. First, it started out great. I went to Yishun swimming complex to have my swimming lesson. My mom and I were rushing because we were going to be late for the swimming lesson. Phew! We arrived in the nick of time. I happily went on with my swimming lesson not knowing what would happen to me later.
After my swimming lesson, my father had also finished his work. We had a mouth watering meal together despite there was some blood in the chicken meat - gross! After that delicious meal, we went to do some shopping at North Point. Just then, I remembered that it is Yi You's birthday tomorrow. I decided to buy a present for him. My father gave me a ten dollar note to buy the book. The queue was very long. When it was almost my turn, I noticed that the ten dollar note was not in my hand. Oh my god! Where is the ten dollar note??!! I panicked. I combed through the whole bookstore and the money was nowhere to be found. I prepared to face the music. As I walked to my mother, I could feel shivers running down my spine. When I told her about my carelessness, I got a tongue lashing from her. Without wasting a second, she called my father to inform him about my carelessness. He looked a little angry, but later cooled down. My father took out another ten dollar note and told me not to lose it again.
After this incident, I promise I won't be such a blunder again.

Hi girls and boys! As you can see, I have just changed my blog template. It was my idea and my mother did it for me. I told my mother that I would like to have a colourful blog template. The small pictures above are all very peaceful and tranquall looking. In my blog, there are some music icons of High School Musical. High School Musical is one of my favourite shows, that is why I decided to put some of their songs in my blog. Ahhh! everytime I see my blog, I have a peaceful feeling and all my unhappiness seems to vanish in the thin air. I wish everyone will have a good time reading my blog and listening to the music. Bye!!

"Mom,I just can't sleep!"I woke my mom up at 2am. I slept at 11pm but woke up at 2am. I was too nervous for the test. Some people say that it was horrifying difficult. Although I know the chance of getting selected is slim, I decided to give it my best shot.

I recall a few days ago, Miss Tan, my form teacher announced the results of the GEP 1st round. I was too shocked to respond as I did not expect it to be released so early. I prayed hard that I could pass the test. As Miss Tan called out the 3rd name,"Yew Weng," imagine my happiness when I received my test slip. I grinned from ear to ear as I thought how happy my parents would be. My father came home early to congratulate me. I thought that this was one of the happiest day ever.

Let us continue. I slept with my mom that night and I woke up at 6 am. At last, I got to eat my breakfast as I was already starving. I ate dumpling for breakfast. At 7.30 am, we left our house and waited for my friends. Ryan's father is driving Hao Ming and me to the test centre. Ryan's fathers car has two televisions and 7 seats. It was also very relaxing. We played and talked throughout our journey.

10 minutes went by, we reached the test centre. The school was rather big and quite clean. Our invigilator led us to the class rooms, then he gave out the English paper. Part 1 was not as difficult as part 2. After the test, it was our break time. The duration was 20 minutes which is the same as our school. After we came back, the General Ability test paper was given out. The paper was more difficult than the English paper. All of a sudden I felt dizzy, and before I could do anything, I vomited. I think the dumpling I ate was not fresh and caused indigestion. I told the invigilator that I was alright and continued with my test after I had cleaned up. Luckily, I had enough time to finish the paper. I heaved a sigh of relief after the paper. My friends and I went to Lot 1 to have our lunch.

It is a very good experience today. I get to see many students from other schools. This GEP thing also boost my confidence. I might not be able to make it to the gifted programme but at least I had tried my best. I really had a whale of time despite my vomiting.

This is a haiku composed by Yew Weng,
Joel and Renkai. It goes like this

Peaceful swaying trees....

The cooling breeze sways the trees....

Swaying in the dark.

Enjoy reading it!

Last Friday was my school's sports day event. I was anticipating for the day to come. There are two types of games- baton race and hockey race. Since I could not complete the baton race, my teacher asked me to go to the hockey team. In that team, the event was just as difficult as baton. But to me it was a piece of cake.

On that day, we had 30 minutes of recess. We used to have 20 minutes of recess but they extended the recess due to the P2s' race. I saw my mother and sister turned up during recess, they were there to cheer for me. Soon it was the P3's turn. The baton race started first. My friend and I were cheering for my class to win. My class got the 4th position. Misery was written all over their face. I felt sorry for them because they had been training very hard.

Minutes later, it was our team's turn to go, we wished each other good luck and set off for the game.We waited quite some time before the game started. "Preet!!" the game started in no time. Ling Yun was the first to go. We screamed our heart out. Miss Tan, our form teacher was very excited and she was running next to the participant giving words of encouragement. As my turn was drawing near, I was nervous and fidgety. You see, I don't usually do well in sports and running is my achilles' heel. However, I managed to finish the course.

Finally the game ended. I heaved a sigh of relief. We were in cloud nine when the Mcee announced that our team is the first to finish the game. We were each awarded a gold medal. I hope this is not my first and last medal. I want to thank Miss Tan for all the effort she put in.

There are lots of blog that I have read. One that I like most is called www.scott-soresu.blogspot.com. It is from my friend Raymond. He is Rita's brother. His blog is very nice. There is a banner saying that he is a Portsmouth fan. He is very handsome and charming. His cursors and banners are very nice so be sure to visit to his blog! He writes like a secondery school boy. I feel that he is an intelligent boy. The blogs he write are so perfect that you can't find any mistakes or errors.

The next blog I am going to talk about is www.spy3a.blogspot.com which is also my class blog. There are over seventy blogs posted and all of them are very interesting. Of course it is done by my fellow classmates. Some of them only posted one or two journals. You will see that Sabrina, Constance and Fahmi did the most journals. Sabrina posted to most number of journals. Her English is very good. No wonder she is one of the highest English scorers in my class. Constance's journal is rather hilarious. She likes to exaggerate things. Her funniest journal is The Attack Of The Insects. Fahmi is a science expert. His journals are all about science facts. He reads up lots of science books. His science knowledge is very updated. I also write many journals in my blog. Doing journal is a relaxing thing. So if you write very little journals, do more!

Today was suppose to be my swimming lesson. It was raining at that time. My mother thought it was only a drizzle. But while we were in the taxi, it began to rain cats and dogs. I kept muttering to myself, it is only a short downpour. But I was wrong. When I reached Woodlands Swimming Complex, it was raining twice as heavy. The ticketing machines were closed due to the rainy weather. People were waiting for the rain to subside. After a while, my swimming instructor, Uncle Jerry, told us that he had to cancel this lesson. Upon hearing that, I my heart sank into my stomach. I asked my mother to let me swim at least. She allowed me to do that but only if the rain has completely stopped. The rain did subside after a while. But soon it began to rain again. I was getting impatient and forced my mother to buy the tickets from the customer service. She refused because she said that it was still raining. I begged and begged her to buy the tickets but she was adamant. So I have to wait. An hour past, I was getting restless so I decided to go home instead. It was drizzling then.

While walking home, we saw a group of elderly men playing Chinese chess. I watched them play. They played as if it was an international championship. When they played, their facial expressions were very tense and every move they need to predict and contemplate. My mother played along and she predicted the move and she was right. The old man who won the game gave my mother a grin. I wanted to join in the game but the sky was getting dark so we had to head home immediately. Even though I did not go for my swimming lesson, I still enjoyed the moment at the void deck seeing the two elderly men playing chess.

A few days ago, the famous Australia crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin, was pierced in the heart by a stingray. The news appalled me. Usually stingrays are very gentle. I wonder what cause it to attack Steve Irwin. He was just swimming above it. Some say he was trying to antagonize it. I am very sure he was doing no harm to it. There was once, he carried his baby while taming a crocodile. That was a very dangerous act as he could get his baby killed. However he is a man of courage too. He joined this show and got killed in the end. His fans where very sad to see him die. Since he is an animal lover, his funeral was held in the Australia Zoo. People put flowers, cards out side his doorstep. His manager said that the recording of pulling the stingray barb would be destroyed because it was very gruesome. Right now the police are still investigating the case.

15 year old Raffles Institute GEP boy Zhi Hao died from high fever. The doctors said that he was just having a high fever. His parents said that he was not a bookworm. He was a normal boy who is an avid soccer fan. His parents reported that he had blood phlegm , coughing and perspiring. They rushed him to the nearest clinic but it was closed. So they rushed him to another clinic. The doctor there sent him to Changi Hospital. But he still could not survive. His teachers classmates all came to his funeral. Doctors have no explanation what type of virus is that. I feel very sad because such a bright boy deserves to live longer.

Yesterday was teachers' day. Actually I was in the concert but due to my robotics my sister had to take over me. Oh well, at least her piano skills were better than me. That morning when I woke up my mind was whirling with excitement because I wanted to watch the performance. When I reached school, I went to the hall late so that I will wait shorter. After we took our pledge, I was impatient for the performance to start. Unexpectedly, we were told to go to the back of the stage for robotics meeting. Halfway through our meeting, the show started. But luckily there were some problems with the micro-phone and they had to stop the concert for a few minutes. I heaved a sigh of relief because I wanted to watch the whole performance and didn't want to miss even the introduction. The performance turned out nice.

Three days ago, I had my grade 4 piano exam. It was raining that time. I had my exam at a music studio Allegro. When we reached there, the staff was chatting on the cellphone. My mother stood up to sign the exam form but the staff asked her to sit down. That is so bad. I mean she should be doing her job. After about 15 minutes she was still chatting on her cellphone. I was getting anxious because I did not want to be late. After a few minutes, she stopped chatting and asked for my ez-link card. I gave her my ez-link card. She led me to the examination room. I begin to feel butterflies in my stomach. The examiner is an amicable man. I played my exam piece with my best effort. After my examination, I was filled with relief. I am confident that I can pass with merit although I got distinction for my grade1, 2 and 3. But since grade 4 is a higher grade so if I can pass with merit, it will be considered very good to me and my family.

Yesterday I went to robotics. As we had finished the robot, we did the programming. When we reached there, the students were still fixing their robot. Our instructor Mr Wee asked a boy to teach us how to program. His name is Kai Xing. He is secondary 3 or 4 I can't remember. Some of his friends called him happy because in Chinese his name was happy. He taught me how to program. He taught as if he was an expert.

Now I know how to program the robot. First you must put in the start and end sign. We programed the robot to start the engines first then we programed it to turn as we need to make the robot turn in the competition next week lastly we set the rotation sensors to program the robot to stop after 500 turns. The maximum is 2000-3000.

After we had finished programming, we tested our robot and it did not work well because instead of moving in front, it moved sideways. Kai Xing suspect that the light sensors were not working well so he programmed the light sensors to shine 48%. But it still did not work. We tried lots of times but it did not work so another secondery 1 boy helped us do. But in the end he got mixed up. When it was time to leave, our robot was still not working. So we had to do it next time anyway we had a whale of time.

Today Yi you, Yuan Qi , Aaron, Benny and I was awarded two certificates on the stage as we got 6th in the power point project. Before I went up to collect my certificates, I had butterflies in my stomach. After we had recited our pledge, it was prize presentation. First, they called out Aaron then Yi You and it was my turn. I muttered to myself, " Never mind just relax and follow the instructions." When I got the certificate from Mr Fahmi, I did not feel nervous anymore, instead I enjoyed it. The first certificate was gold in colour. the second certificate was white in colour. It was the best time I ever had in my life!

Before I got the certificate, I also need to attend Teacher's Day rehearsal. I was the pianist playing the song Memory. The piano was rather hard and didn't have much sound. So they put the micro-phone into the piano. The sound boomed across the whole hall. Some of the parent volunteers were very fierce. I saw them scolding some pupils very loudly. In the end, the rehearsal was a success. We were relieved when the rehearsal ended as we all had a hard time. But overall I still enjoyed it.

At the robotics session, we completed the robot after many trials and errors. The girls' robot was in a chaotic condition. At first their robot did not run smoothly and they kept fixing the wheels until they found out the they put the gears at the wrong side.

At the same day I was a little sick. Two of my classmates were also sick. I suspect that they had fever as their faces were all red. Now I am still a little sick. My temprature is now at 38 celsius. Despite my fever, I had a wonderful day.

When I closed my eyes, I saw Mozart conducting a symphony to the king and queen and other rich people. All of a sudden, two angels flew down and carried Mozart to heaven. The king and queen were so green with envy that they bad-mouthed Mozart as they wanted to take Mozart's place to go to heaven. But the angels refused to put Mozart down because they too wanted to listen to his music.

Just then Beethoven came out thinking that it was his turn to perform. As he was about to bow, he saw his teacher being carried away by the angels. He shouted, "Hey leave my teacher alone!"

Mozart saw his student shouting for the angels to let go of him so he pinched one of the angels hand. The angel yelped in pain and released him. Mozart landed on the kings seat and the king ordered his guards to arrest Mozart. But the guards were scared that they would offend the angels so they did not arrest Mozart. To Mozart's advantage, he ordered the guards to arrest the king and queen. Immediately, the guards arrested them and sent them to the deepest dungeon. Mozart crowned himself as the king. He ordered his solders to built him a musical palace where he could practice his music. Soon the villagers called him the music king as they will always hear him playing all sorts of instruments.

One day he summoned J.A Bach, the son of the composer J.S Bach. He wanted him to play the violin for him. When J.A Bach played the melancholic music piece, Mozart was so touched by the music that he could not eat for days. One day Mozart became gravely ill. He was so ill that he could not get out of bed. One morning, J.A Bach came and played an enchanting melody. Immediately Mozart felt better. He thought very highly of J.A bach that he made him his palace musician and then...... I opened my eyes, everything I saw disappear. I thought to myself, "Wow what an incredible dream!!!I wish it was real!".

Today I went to Admiralty Secondary School for robotics study. I could hardly wait to get there! When we got there, the pupils kept looking at us. I felt embarrassed. Our instructor is Mr Wee. He was a funny man. He told us that one robot could cost us 400 dollars if we broke it. It is so expensive! I marvelled at all the robots made by the students. We learned about the light sensors, the rotation sensors and the touch sensors. They where very interesting. The touch sensors will see whether you are going to fall off. The rotation sensors will help rotate the robot and the light sensors will shine different kinds of light. I started building a robot with Joel, Jian Yuan and Hao Ming. We had gone through lots and lots of hassles. Joel couldn't put the gears together, so we tried to fix it together. At last we all managed to get the gears together. Next, we fixed one of the gears into the wrong part. Jian Yuan managed to get the gear fixed. That gear was one of the most important gears. Without it, the whole robot will malfunction. The girls did really fast, but will their robot really work? Well it depends on whether they did it properly. When we were almost finished, it was time to go back to school. Our heart sank as we were reluctant to go back to school. I think this CCA is very interesting. If you have the chance to join robotics, please join in or else you will regret for your whole life(just exaggerating)

Today, my broadband can be activated. Actually, we have gone through a lot of hassles while fixing the broadband. After we fixed the modem, we tried to connect to the Internet but we could not login to the Internet. My mother called the service centre, they said they had forgotten to register our line, how careless they were! The next day, my mother tried to connect to the Internet. Again, it could not work. She called the service centre but they kept transferring calls. My mother even went down to Causeway Point personally to get things done. The amicable staff apologised to us and immediately take action. At last our broadband can be activated. I was cock-a-hoop as I can use it more often. I promised my mother to write blogs more often in order to improve my typing.

My hobbies are playing computer and reading. The games I play in the computer are all online. Usually I will play online with Ryan Kueh and Aaron. For example, New Kingdoms and Neopets. Between the two, I prefer New Kingdoms to Neopets because it is a strategy game and I like brain storming games.

Now I will talk about my second hobby.....reading. My favourite books are Secret Seven series. The author is Enid Blyton. Secret Seven are all about mystery and adventure. The Boxcar Children series, written by Gertude Chandler Warner, are also my favourites. My mother borrowed the books from the national library. I started reading them since last year. I remembered that my mother said to me that the storybook was very thrilling, so I read the book. I was soon engrossed in reading the Boxcar Children. Another author I would like to introduce to you is Beverly Cleary. One day my teacher gave us a DARE card and a list of books. One of the books was Ramona and her mother. At first, I thought the book was rather boring and girlish. But as the story plot moved further, I was so enthusiastic that I couldn't take my eyes off the book. Beverly Cleary has also written numerous exciting titles such as, Henry Huggins, Ramona Forever, Henry and Ribsy, so on and so forth..

Yesterday, my sister borrowed a book about Chinese chess. Now I know how to play a bit of Chinese chess. My father bought a set of weiqi. It is the same origin of the Chinese chess. Last night I played Weiqi with my sister. It was very mind cracking. We had a tie of 48-48. My sister thought she could win me but she could not believe her eyes that we had a tie. Ha Ha Ha! Sean of 3F is a good player at English chess. When Miss Jenny Teo did not come, he played chess with Aaron. In the end, Aaron lost because Sean plays chess with strategy. I hope to play with him. My friend, Leong Gen is currently studying at Raffles Institution. He is a good chess player and he has a classmate who is a national chess player.

Yesterday I went to the Science Centre with my mom. We had loads of fun there. We watched a science demonstration about liquid nitrogen. The temperature of the liquid nitrogen was -176 Celsius. When they put a rubber ball inside the liquid nitrogen, seconds later, the rubber ball became frozen and brittle. If you put the inflated balloon inside the liquid nitrogen, the balloon will get deflated because the air inside was frozen and decreases its volume but once the balloon is taken out, the balloon inflates again. This is because the air inside increases to 600 times. We savoured the Korean food for dinner and it was very spicy. We went to Fuji Ice Palace and we saw many people skating. Some kids lost their balance and landed heavily. I gave out a loud guffaw as some adults lumbers and fumbles like a bear in a china shop. That's all folks!

Today I was being chosen for doing the robot competition. It will last for 3 years(quite long). I did some DIY robots such as crash gear, so I should know some techniques on how to do robots. Miss Jenny Teo didn't let us play catching anymore because we always come back sweating and cannot concentrate on our work. So we cannot play catching with the girls anymore, so sad. I was disgruntled as I don't know what to do for recess, except eating. Today during PE, our team won Captain's Ball. The girls were unhappy that they kept arguing among themselves while the boys were busy shaking hands with each other. During the pottery lesson, I did a clay model of an elephant, it's head dropped off when I was handing it to my teacher. My mother says that I am a bear in a china shop.

Today, I attended my first swimming lesson at Woodlands Swimming complex. It was very crowded there. I met my swimming instructor. His name is Jerry. He taught me how to swim frogstyle first. I learned very fast because previously I had learned some techniques from OCC during the school holidays. I can swim a bit of freestyle. We also went to the deep pool to practice our strokes. I liked the deep pool because I think it fits me. I also learned some strokes names, such as, submarine and fireworks. After my lesson, my father came to fetch me. We ate chicken rice at Yishun. The chicken there is succulent. There are many pet shops behind the coffee shop. I enjoy going there because there are many adorable puppies for sale. There are also 3 to 4 dog grooming centres. Some times I will go and watch how they groom the dogs and also there is a spa for dogs. One of the grooming shops has a huge dog which is bigger than me but the dog is very tame and lazy. There is also a talking parrot. I need to log off now. BYE!

Racial Harmony Day

Today is Racial Harmony day. We were told to wear traditional costumes. During recess, despite the hot whether, we still played catching. I had the opportunity to taste the different ethnic food. I think I like the Malay food best. We had 50 minutes of recess and we played Wacko when it was P.E time. We had a whale of time. Ryan Kueh named himself as Char Kueh tiao. Miss Tan revealed the New South Whales Science results and most of them got distinction. Now I need to practise hard for my piano exam. Well, I need to log out now ,bye!

Today there was a Chinese creative writing competition. I was shocked and had butterflies in my stomach because I am not prepared for it. I thought it was on Thursday. I finished just in time. Lucky for me. I hope I get the top 3. Today during recess, surprisingly the girls asked us whether we want to play catching again or not. I said ok and they catched us so fast that we almost lost. But luckly we didn't lose to the girls. It was so thrilling that I wanted to play forever. Well, I need to log off now. bye!

Today, I created a new blog as this blog is better. Today it rained so heavily that we were almost drenched. During recess, I played with Reeduan and some other friends. It was totally exhilarating. Yesterday I did a science project about components of air at the E-space Ryan was a very good assistant. I am very grateful to him. And my mother burned the CD on classical music because Miss Tan said we could listen to it while doing mathematics in class. How relaxing it would be. Got to go, bye!!!!!!!!
